Within the framework of the Nodar Dumbadze IV International Theater Festival

Within the framework of the Nodar Dumbadze IV International Theater Festival, was presented Mikhail Tumanishvili State Professional Film Actors Theatre performance ,,Bakula’s Pigs" (Davit Kldiashvili, Directed by Michael Tumanishvili) , who was given a special symbol of the festival named after Nodar Dumbadze, a diploma and a gift of the festival Another production which gained international fame is Bakula’s Poigs, Michael Tumanishvili’s adaptation of the classical Georgian play. The performance is exceptional as it has been in the theatre repertoire for 45 consecutive years and the oldest running one on any Georgia stage. Galaktion Khosoliani is worrying about his neighbor Bacula’s pigs, that keep raiding his vegetable garden time after time and leaving nothing for the family to eat. Suddenly Galaktion remembers his wife’s cousin who works at the Chancellery of region and an idea comes to his mind. He should invite the clerks from Chancellery to dinner especially arranged for them in house. The poor man hopes his neighbor will get afraid of seeing what friends and supporters he has, so that will let his pigs out. Will this idea work at all? Are the pigs real problem or people who look like pigs? - This play based on the short story by Davit Kldiashvili introducing us about how distructing and cruel was everyday life in the Soviet union. Author asks: “How can a human exist in such awful corrupted environment, facing unpunished raids of clerks?” - This are questions that appears among many dialogs with ritorical way like classic masterpiece of critical realism.
